In 1988, in the quiet, charming village of Champton, Canon Daniel Clement (Lewis) shares a rectory with his overbearing widowed mother Audrey (Redman) and his two lovable dachshunds, Cosmo and Hilda. When Daniel announces his plan to modernise the church, the town is unnerved and his congregation left divided.
