Hawkins ’86
Stranger Things Season 4 is out, in full, on Netflix now. I’m sure you’ve seen it
If not, go give it a watch and come back later.
O.K. All caught up? Cool
Now I have a question
Season 4 is set in 1986, probably around March as it’s spring break time for the kiddywinks.
Everyone’s going mad for the Eddie Munson plays Metallica scene.
But why is nobody asking why he never played one of the bangers from Iron Maiden’s Piece of Mind. We all know he has a copy.
He could have belted out The Trooper!
Containing lyrics like
You’ll take my life but I’ll take yours too
You’ll fire your musket but I’ll run you through
So when you’re waiting for the next attack
You’d better stand there’s no turning back
The bugle sounds, the charge begins
But on this battlefield no one wins
The smell of acrid smoke and horse’s breath
As I plunge on into certain death
it’s perfect for the Upside Down, and even mentions Russians!
So what! I hear you cry, bear with me!
Iron Maiden’s Piece of Mind was released in May 1983 giving Munson plenty of time to learn his epic shred.
Metallica’s Master of Puppets album was released in March 86, the same March in which Eddie Munson is a bit pre occupied with not getting Jason Carvered up or worse still Vecna’d, and the single of the song hadn’t been released yet.
I mena, his name’s even Eddie!
So, they shoulda woulda coulda played The Trooper in that scene, as epic as it was.
Thoughts?
