Just a quick post.

With the news that J.K. Rowlings “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is filming in Liverpool it led me to think how great it is just how many films are shot in the city.

Liverpool has been used as a shooting location for many years, both for film and television set in the city, and standing in for other city’s such as Chicago. Mainly used in period pieces due to the fantastic architecture, Liverpool looks fantastic on film.

The above was shot in Liverpool’s Stanley Dock for the 2011 film Captain America: The First Avenger with the dock area doubling for Brooklyn.

Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit was shot around  the city, doubling for Moscow and New Yorkkeira-knightley-is-damsel-in-distress-on-jack-ryan-set

Films as diverse as Chariots of Fire, The Dark Knight and Harry Potter have all filmed in and around Liverpool.

It’s great to be watching a film and thinking “Is that town?”

So, next time you visit, can you spot anywhere that looks familiar from your favourite film?
