Liverpool Comic Con
MCM Comic Con Liverpool was held over the weekend of 12th March. It was to be my first Comic convention. I’ve been reading comics since the 80’s how is this possible?!
I attended, armed with my trusty camera, to get some shots of the city’s cosplayers.
They didn’t disappoint!
Admittedly there were A LOT of Anime and Manga characters that I had no idea who they were, but the colours, and costumes were sublime.
Some of the characters were a little easier to recognise of course
Harley Quinn was a popular choice, probably helped by the Suicide Squad film being on it’s way.
My favourite costume of the weekend was this Corpse Bride, absolutely phenomenal, even down to being able to see her kneecaps.
My absolute favourite shot of the weekend was this one of Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy (In a Rockabilly style) Costumes by The Cuckoo Emporium
I think their poses perfectly exemplify how cosplayers should pose when asked for a photo, become the character.
Ivy, she has an untouchable air, she shows great power and intelligence. You feel almost like you could become plant food in an instant.
Harley, typically anarchic and devil may care, her way or the highway.
I added them to some iconic art of comics (no copyright infringement intended)
I really enjoyed interacting with the cosplayers at the con (although my legs and feet didn’t) which leads me to a side note. Always ask permission guys, I saw evidence of long lenses being pointed at the female cosplayers. Not good!
Overall my first experience of a comic convention was good.
I’ll be looking to shoot more cosplay in the future, if you have a project you would like to work on, let me know.
