Voice of Shadows – Review
Voice of Shadows is one of those films that may well creep under your skin and linger, like a proper haunting. It’s got a bit of everything—mystery, supernatural vibes, and just the right amount of “What the hell is going on?” to keep you guessing.
The story follows Emma and Gabriel as Emma is left a big old house with strings attached. The tension is thick from the start, with the house itself practically a character—creaking floors, flickering lights, and an old ringing phone. Oh, and you always need a basement in any decent haunted house right?
Corrinne Mica as Emma and Guillermo Blanco as Gabriel put in solid performances. The on screen chemistry of the two isn’t great though and I found myself questioning why they’d be together at all.
Director Nicholas Bain nails that creeping dread filled atmosphere you want in this type of horror, balancing the supernatural elements with a psychological edge, but it’s definitely a slow burner.
As horrors go there’s not much here that will set your spine tingling, except maybe for one scene involving a bed sheet, but for the most part it’s a well shot, great looking first feature for Bain.
Voice of Shadows is a decent supernatural/religious horror with a few haunted house tropes thrown in for good measure. There’s an old phone, basement stairs and loads of shadows. So, why not throw this on as your Christmas Ghost story.
Voice of Shadows is out now from Miracle Media.
