Creepshow Season 4 Blu-ray comes in a 2 disc amaray case with swing tray.

The Cover art and disc art follow the same Comic Book style of seasons 1 – 3, with the menu on this one being a static picture of the Creep same as the cover of the Blu-ray.

Also the same as season 3 is the complete lack of extras on this release, which I always feel is a shame especially after season 1’s fantastic extras.

The Creepshow series continues to be a worthy addition to your Blu-ray collection though as each episode is a great microcosm of horror filmmaking.

The Episodes included across the two discs are

Cassandra / Smile

The fourth season of Creepshow gets off to a gallop with 20 minutes with Cassandra (shown just as “Cassandra” on the Blu-Ray menu) Late at night Cassie hammers on the door of a stranger, begging for help. By letting her in, the stranger has inadvertently allowed a monster into her life, which will kill her in 20 minutes time.

Fantastically shot, superbly acted with great practical make up effects and with a superb script, the series really couldn’t start off much stronger. The conversation about Kaiju is *chefs kiss.

In the second segment a celebrated photographer is tormented after an award-winning photograph has more consequences than just fame. Why does he avoid being in photographs?

Ancient superstition and modern tech brought together nicely.

Again this segment was nicely shot and well acted with a strong script (Max’s dialogue is hilarious) and after knowing Matthew J Dowden from his magic days, seeing him in this was great.

The Hat / Grieving Process

In The Hat, a horror novelist’s agent offers him help overcoming his writer’s block by wearing his writing idol’s hat. Whilst wearing it the ideas constantly flow, but at what cost?

Great segment, and if they ever need someone to play Edgar Allen Poe then I think they have their man!

Then in Grieving Process Chef Richard’s wife is attacked and becomes a shell of the woman he loved. He’ll do anything to help her feel better. Including feeding any visitors to her, all served up to Michelin star levels of course.

For me this segment needed longer to breathe, the short run time meant some wooden scripting was required and it could have maybe done with one less character at the beginning.

Parent Death Trap / To Grandmother’s House We Go

In Parent Death Trap, Lyle’s parents meddle in his life but their plan backfires. This is a more comical Creepshow classic with great performances throughout. Good fun horror with some fantastic ghost effects.

In To Grandmother’s House We Go, Marcia takes her stepdaughter to her grandmother’s house to claim their inheritance. Young girls with red coats, Grandmothers houses, whatever could happen? Awoooooo!

Well shot, nice practical effects and a satisfying ending, this is another Creepshow classic episode.

We flip to disc two now, being careful not to snap the disc in half getting it out of that case.

This disc contains the last 3 episodes of series 4 which are

Meet The Belaskos / Cheat Code

This may well be my favourite episode of the series, both segments are fun horror and work nicely together.

In Meet The Belaskos a family get more than they bargained for when they move in next door to a family that don’t like their kind. A vampiric look at racism in suburban America with Alex and Anastasia, a Romeo and Juliet love story for the ages.

In Cheat Code a dad tries to bond with his gamer son after the death of mum by playing an old video game he was champion at back in the day “Weird Wednesday”, but soon find out there’s a reason it was abandoned, and all copies buried in the desert.

Daft fun in the best Creepshow way with a few nice bits of gore, there’s some pretty bad acting involved in parts but that adds to its charm.

Something Burrowed, Something Blue / Doodles

In Something Burrowed, A young couple are gifted everything they could ever wish for by the Stan Lee of horror Tom Atkins, that’s all you need to know, Tom Atkins!

In Doodles, an aspiring comic artist finds that her doodles have more power than she could imagine. Great performances in this with some truly hateful characters that you are rooting to be doodled!

George Romero in 3D / Baby Teeth

In George Romero in 3D a struggling bookstore owner finds unpublished works of George Romero, but the comics lead to new troubles. A nicely done episode with some great nods to Romero and great make up effects. Take on meeeeee!

In Baby Teeth, Shelby’s mom struggles to accept that her baby is growing up, but keeping hold of all of her teeth was a bad idea. The little toothy thing in this, like a mini Creep, is absolutely horrendous I love it! Shelby’s a little shit too so you kind of end up seeing toothy as the hero in this one, nice gore and some genuinely chilling moments. Don’t think too much about the end, as it makes no sense at all. None. Feel free to leave a comment about the end of that episode, we can discuss.

With Creepshow you get 12 mini horror movies. This season is pretty strong, with some genuinely great segments and great performances. Each episode is shot beautifully with that Creepshow aesthetic. There’s some segments that are stronger than others of course, but overall a thoroughly enjoyable, binge worthy series.

Following its huge success on Shudder, Creepshow Season 4 and Creepshow Season 1 – 4 Box set are set to arrive on Blu-ray, DVD and digital on 11th December 2023 from Acorn Media International.
